Muzzles, Muzzles everywhere

I have rather a collection of muzzles, some for my own dog to wear for fun racing or playing with his lurcher and greyhound friends and they come in a variety of types and colours.  This blog is to point out the basic differences in the deep drop muzzles

There are other types or sizes available to buy but personally I find they are only suitable for racing due to a narrow drop, for everyday wear or when you think they need more pant room then these are the better types. These are sighthound muzzles but will fit other types of dogs, there is baskerville muzzles available in most pet shops but they do not tend to fit the pointy dogs faces, never use fabric muzzles as these do not allow any panting or ease of drinking while wearing them plus the dog can still bite while wearing one. 11080022_10206213835645850_1561240875520394525_o
For small dogs, the whippet (or 103) featured here in green, its very small as it fits whippets and whippety type dogs. The black muzzle featured is the lurcher muzzle (107) and is slightly bigger, a shallower drop but still a deep muzzle and would fit larger whippety dogs or small lurchers. 11119418_10206213877406894_1040395697512916115_o The 107 - currently only available in black, hard plastic or soft, short reach or long reach for the greyhound size. The black muzzle is the lurcher, the red muzzle is the short reach and the silver is the long reach, I painted the red and the silver muzzles myself 1891489_10206213872606774_7596689394720095258_o
The 110 lightweight - available in black, red, white and blue and in short reach or long reach, both are greyhound sized and the white muzzle is the short reach. 11129210_10206213849286191_4822102097672810027_o The box muzzle (or 101) - available in hard or soft plastic and recently rubber (black only), the soft plastic comes in black, red, blue, yellow, purple, pink, brown, white, orange, and green. Hard plastic comes in red, blue and black image My dog is modeling some of the muzzles, he is a large dog, greyhound sized but is actually a "bull" lurcher which means he has a bull breed in him, in his case its staffie, he has a big head in a short reach 110 11112832_10206213803085036_3229382742576679668_o in a short reach 107 (painted by me) - it doesnt quite fit in length 11090905_10206213815965358_122308780015622583_o In a long reach 107, these fit him perfectly (painted by me) 1537469_10206213823085536_7656976597766263461_o The box muzzle DSCN1793 (no other sized muzzles will fit him)

He is showing off the drop available in the 110, he can pant with ease and finds these very comfortable RSCN7344 Pepper demonstrating the 107 from the side (long reach) DSCN1188 And they can still drink with them on, they can also be given treats through the holes (there is a knack to that) 2014-05-18 11.11.19 nor does it stop them having fun DSCN1180
